Privacy Policy

This policy is from TextBack.si ("TextBack," "we," "us"), based in Austin, Texas. It covers the textback.si website, the "Talk to TextBack" voice demo, and the TextBack text-back service we run for businesses.
The short version
- We collect as little as we can.
- We don't sell your information or use it for targeted advertising.
- TextBack does not save audio or transcripts; our voice provider (xAI) may keep request data for up to 30 days for abuse review, and Cloudflare keeps standard connection logs.
- We don't create voiceprints or use your voice to identify you.

This website
This site is static pages. It has no accounts, sign-up forms, ad trackers or analytics scripts. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) handles web requests and keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, under its own policies. We don't set cookies. If that changes we'll update this policy first.
The voice demo
The "Talk to TextBack" demo is optional and only starts when you press Start talking and allow your microphone. You can stop at any time by closing the demo or your browser tab.
- What happens: your audio is streamed in real time through our server to a third-party AI voice provider (xAI) to run the conversation. The AI's spoken replies and on-screen text stream back to your browser.
- Retention: TextBack does not save audio or transcripts; our voice provider (xAI) may keep request data for up to 30 days for abuse review, and Cloudflare keeps standard connection logs. Our server doesn't record, log or store your audio or transcripts. The on-screen transcript only lives in your browser tab and is gone when you close it.
- No voiceprints: we don't extract, create or keep any voiceprint or other biometric identifier from your voice, and we don't use the demo to identify you.
- What our server does keep: a single anonymous counter of how many demo sessions happened each day, which deletes itself after 2 days. Your IP address is used briefly to rate-limit abuse and is not saved by our code.
- The AI provider: xAI processes the audio to run the demo. As of October 15, 2026, its documentation says realtime voice audio is processed in real time and not stored or used for training, and its general API terms allow request data to be kept for up to 30 days for abuse review. Its own privacy policy and terms apply. We don't control xAI's retention.
- Limits: you must be 18 or older to use the demo. Sessions end after 5 minutes. The demo is role-play only and doesn't send real texts to anyone. Please don't share sensitive personal information (health, financial, account numbers, etc.) in the demo.
The text-back service (for our business customers' callers)
TextBack runs automatic text replies on behalf of local service businesses ("our customers"). If you called one of those businesses and received a text from them through TextBack:
- What we process: your phone number, the time of your call, and the messages you exchange (for example, the job details you share). Carriers may also supply delivery information.
- Why: only to reply to your call, collect your request, and pass it to that business. We act as a service provider for that business; its own privacy policy also applies.
- Sharing: with that business, and with the SMS providers we use to deliver texts. We don't sell your number, and we don't share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their marketing.
- Opting out: reply STOP to any message to stop texts from that business. Reply HELP for help. We honor opt-outs promptly and keep a record of them so you aren't texted again.
- How long we keep it: message, consent and opt-out records are kept only as long as needed to provide the service to that business and meet legal obligations, then deleted.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and talk with you about the service.
Sale and sharing
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with the service providers above as needed to run the site, the demo and the text-back service, or if the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including Texas under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act), you may have the right to ask us to confirm whether we process your personal data, access it, correct it, delete it, get a copy, and opt out of sale, targeted advertising or profiling (we do none of these). Email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject. We'll respond within 45 days and won't treat you differently for asking. If we deny your request you can appeal by replying to our answer; if you're unhappy with the appeal result you may contact the Texas Attorney General. If your request is about a text you got from one of our customers, we may forward it to that business.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards (encrypted connections, access limits, no secrets in client code). No system is perfectly secure.
Children
This site and service are for business owners and their customers. They're not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. The voice demo is for adults 18 and older.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting the text-back service will be posted here before they take effect.
